Martin Brundle career
Martin Brundle and Ayrton Senna battled to the last race of the 1983 F3 season, with Martin Brundle finishing second. He then moved up to the Tyrrell F1 team, but the team struggled to be competitive. For the 1987 season he moved to Zakspeed and scored their only points. In 1988 he moved to sports cars and won the world championship. For 1989 he moved to Brabham, but after an unsuccessful season he went back to sports cars and won Le Mans. His move to Brabham in 1991 got him a drive with Benetton in 1992 in which he was Michael Schumacher’s most competitive team mate. He was surprisingly dropped at the end of the season, so moved to Ligier for 1993 and was the best of the cars without active suspension. In 1994 he moved to McLaren but suffered from the unreliability of the Peugeout engines in their first year in F1. For 1995 he was replaced at McLaren by Nigel Mansell so moved to Ligier and for his final season in F1 he raced for Jordan. In total he raced in 158 F1 races. More recently he has commentated for British TV.
